Services
We can offer three different levels of services-education, support,
and treatment. Treatments include:
Treatment and consultation sessions last 45 to 60 minutes. All you
need to provide is a semi-private space where we can set up a
treatment table.
We require at least two back-to-back booked appointments for each visit.
Bookings for half-day and whole-day are also possible for events.
Step 1 - Education
By offering lectures on the effects of stress, pain, and other health
issues, and then providing solutions, employees can take control of
their health. One of the most frustrating things for many people is the
sense of a lack of control. Education is one of the most cost-effective
methods of achieving and maintaining wellness because the individual
makes lifestyle changes for the positive.
Active Life Health acts as teacher, offering lectures on various health
topics, including:
- An Introduction to the Benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Stress and Its Effects on Wellness
- The Impact of Pain and Ways to Find Relief
- A Guide to Healthy Eating on a Busy Schedule
Lectures can be held at the workplace, before, during, or after
business hours.
Step 2 - Support
Most people know that they should eat healthier, get more sleep, and
exercise regularly. Some people even know how to best do this. Yet many
people still do nothing to change their unhealthy lifestyles.
Active Life Health acts as motivator, providing continuing support and
answering questions. Individuals can set up one-on-one consultations to
pursue information on specific health issues. In addition, as repetition
is one of the best ways to make a change and learn a new habit, regular
seminars can be offered on common workplace health problems such as:
- headaches and migraines
- carpal tunnel syndrome
- neck and shoulder pain
- fatigue
- stress
- low back pain
- frozen shoulder
- frequent colds and flu
Just as holistic wellness cannot be achieved in one treatment, so too
is it important to recognize that workplace wellness is part of a
process. By making wellness a regular part of a company's goals for the
business, employees will take fewer sick days, work harder and more
efficiently for the company, and stay happily employed for longer
periods of time.
Step 3 - Treatment
Whether the health problem is severe or mild, chronic or acute,
treatment is important for those conditions for which lifestyle changes
is not enough. Treatment can be adapted to suit each individual using
acupuncture, Chinese herbs, food cures, tui na massage, exercise, and
supplementation.
Employers can help make this step possible by selecting a comprehensive
health insurance plan that offers significant coverage of registered
alternative health practices, i.e. acupuncture. Employee Assistance
Plans that help with TCM treatment plans are also an exceptionally
worthwhile investment.
Treatments
Acupuncture
As the word alludes to, acupuncture is the insertion of very thin,
sterile, and disposable needles into specific points of the body. It is
a science and an art that as withstood nearly 3000 years, from Asia, to
Europe, to North America and the rest of the world.
Acupuncture is one of the modalities of treatment making up Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is most effective when applied as originally
intended, following a proper TCM diagnosis. Registered Acupuncturists
(R.Ac.), Registered Practitioners of TCM (R.TCM.P.), and Registered
Doctors of TCM (Dr.TCM) are properly trained to do this.
After diagnosing the patient, the Acupuncturist chooses the appropriate
point locations, usually both local to the area of concern (e.g. points
on the back for backache) and distal (e.g. points on the hand for
backache). The patient gets to relax with the needles in place for 20-40
minutes. Think that there's no way you'll relax and maybe even sleep
with needles stuck in you? You might be surprised! Many patients find
that catching a quick catnap is one of the bonus benefits to acupuncture
treatment.

Cupping
Cupping is another common TCM technique. Glass cups are most commonly
used in North America, but bamboo or plastic cups are also available.
Suction is obtained with either a flame which is quickly inserted and
removed from the cup (generating negative pressure suction), or by use
of a small pump on a plastic cup. The cup can then either be left
stationary or moved with the assistance of oil.
The purpose of cupping is to relax muscles, reduce swelling and pain,
and help detoxify the body.

Facial Cupping
Facial Cupping uses small, quick-release suction cups to enhance
circulation, assist lymph drainage, and relax tight muscles to improve
facial tone, drain puffiness, and ease expression lines. It's an
excellent, natural alternative to Botox treatments. Absorption of
topical masks, serums, and creams are also improved. Suggested treatment
protocol is 6-12 sessions with 1-3 sessions per week, followed by
optional monthly maintenance treatments.
